Aberdare Chess Club has started its Club Championship with an “all play all “format this year

Too early to predict anyone having an advantage it still remains everyone's goal to be “The Club Champion “for 2005-2006

 A Bit of History

Aberdare Chess Club was formed over twenty years ago, and plays in the East Glamorgan Leagues, Welsh Cup competitions and even run the outdoor tournament during the Aberdare Festival. Winners of every conceivable local chess title during its history the Club has seen both low and high points including the winning of the prestigious   East Glam Division One Title on more than one occasion

Past holders of every conceivable local trophy including Division One Champions the Club is trying to secure its future in uncertain times.

Although new people have joined the  continual draining away of players has been a constant concern whereby it is now agreed for  only one Team can be fielded in the local East Glamorgan Chess

However at the recent AGM it was apparent that player enthusiasm remains high even in even in these troubled times which bodes well for the future
