In this top of the division tie that pitted first against third with both team undefeated and only being separated by Aberdare’s bonus points.  This game was never going to be marked in history as one of the great game of rugby.

It was Abercwmboi’s full back Ceri Pritchard who open the scoring with a well struck penalty to give the home team a 3 – 0 lead.

Aberdare’s opening score came from right wing Ceirion Griffiths who crossed the line for an unconverted try following a passage of several phases of play involving the whole of the Aberdare team.

Aberdare then increased their lead to 3 – 8 when scrum half Gavin Hek was successful with the penalty awarded after an Abercwmboi infringement.

Pritchard then added three further penalties in quick succession to take the lead and make the score to 12 – 8.

In the second half Charlie Roberts and Ceri Pritchard exchanged penalties to take the score to 15 – 11.

Aberdare then crossed the home try line yet again, this time in the shape of Matthew Shellard being driven over by the whole of the Aberdare packs following a period of intense rucking and mauling on the Abercwmboi line, the additional two points were added by Charlie Roberts.  Abercwmboi 15 – 18 Aberdare.

The home side were then awarded yet another penalty, Pritchard was again successful to bring the scoring to a close.
